My year in review.

Sometimes I need to look back and see what has changed in my life to remind myself how lucky I am. It seems to happen on a daily basis now.Jade is coming out with new words left and right and Slater is having conversations with us. My life has changed so fast, but I don't want it back either. I can't imagine my life without my Bug and Monkey. So here are some of the things I remember:

My little Miss Independent. She tells us her opinion loud and clear now.

My helpful lawn inspector....always ready for the outdoors and work!

And my reminder. As independent as they are, they still need our help sometimes.

And then there's the boy....
This is how I see him in my mind, happy, healthy, fearless, and a little out of focus...because he rarely stops!

Mr. Curious, if I had known maybe he would have been a George.

Two boys, I hope they are as excited to see each other when they are my age as they are now. They make me smile and laugh....and want to cry sometimes.

There is one more thing I need to talk about but she does not like to have her picture taken, she is beautiful to me. Being a mom seems so easy for her and makes her so happy. I love her and endeavor to be a better parent and husband because of her. Love you.

Old???

My friend Kelly turned 34 today. Some how my birthdays never bother me and I don't often think about them as getting older, but when my best friend (from birth) turns 34, I think, "Holy Crap!!"

Kiddie cuteness: Slater called to sing happy birthday to Kelly and we got her voicemail, while we were waiting for the beep Jade whopped Slater over the head and everyone started screaming (&*^#%&@). Second attempt - with the sister distracted - Slater repeated the words and even said, "I love you Kelly ... I miss you." He can be such a sweetie. Normally he can sing the song and I am looking forward to all the practice he will be getting in the upcoming months.

Over 18 months ago she came into our life - sweet baby Jade. Everyone has called her that since her arrival and it has always described her perfectly. She has slept well, eaten well, loved her big brother, and been such a joy in our lives. No longer a baby, she is stretching out, talking, making her way toward independence and on some days has quite the sassy attitude. Cautious and curious by nature, it is interesting to watch the two side of her personality work together to make her who she is.

"The streak" - Is she a super hero?

Normally only allowed to color with the crayons - and this is why.

Loading up the sleeping companions! This whole crew is requested - by name - before every nap or bedtime.

This last two images are of my baby(!!!) last February. Sporting her big brother's Ewok costume and looking oh so serious at the playground. She sure was a lot easier to photograph back then.

Simply Swimming Sunday - the discovery of frog feet

I wish I had duck feet...
If I had duck feet I know just what I'd do ...
Dr. Suess

Today at the pool Slater spotted another kids fins sitting on the edge of the pool. His immediate response - "I want frog feet!"

Luck for us the pool keeps lots of "frog feet" on hand and there was even a pair small enough for Slater.

After getting his frog feet on and kicking around the pool a couple of times on Dad's back his confidence was up. As I stood next to him in the water he kicked off into the open pool all by himself!! He turned long enough for me to see the look of pure delight and then came at me. It clicked - he could do it.

He swam across the pool, he swam the diagonal, he swam to Dad, he swam to Mom, he loved his frog feet ... and that is what he did.

What else do you do with Star Wars toys?

Yup, the AT-AT is crushing the snow-speeder. It is one of his favorite things to pretend with these toys. Then Luke has to light-saber the under carriage and we have to knock the whole thing over onto a pillow (the first time it crashed to the actual floor and upset him greatly - he wanted it to crash, but didn't want to break his new toy - hence the pillow). There are times when we are all forced to hide behind the chair because "The AT-AT is coming, pull back, pull back!"
