Starting to really play together

This little walker has changed the dynamics of the household. Jade can wriggle and squirm on the floor, but still isn't moving with any speed or real purpose. However if you put her in the walker she can get around and get around FAST!! Her favorite target to chase is her brother and she follows him about the house gibbering. If he doesn't want her close he pushes the walker to some far corner and then runs back to his stuff. It takes her a bit to get turned around and back to him (it is not a game she ever gets tired of). This morning Slater wanted to be in the walker with her and at first I was going to pull him out, but she just giggled and tried to look at him so I grabbed the camera instead.

Still wants to be the baby - sweet boy

There are times when you just need to feel babied a little. Slater has been needing some attention while the baby is sick. I had packed up all of her stuff to run to the doctors office and he crawled into the car seat and snuggled in. His toddler body is so long and lean now, I miss the chubby baby that used to be strapped into this same seat. The second image was taken almost exactly two years earlier. My sweet chubby boy.

Snowy "kid"

This has been one of the lowest snow years ever recorded in interior Alaska. We have had plenty of cold weather, just not much of the white stuff to go with it. Last week we did get some snow and it came down in fat fluffy flakes. Piper likes to run and frolic in the snow, but Vega just likes to sit quietly and watch it fall. Sometimes she will get covered in over an inch of snow before she moves. After she nearly died last month I have decided that she needs to be photographed more often - we really do love our furry kids.

7 months today!

She can sit up on her own, rollover, scoot on her back and wiggle forward on her belly (can't even call it army crawling yet). She does the happy baby dance whenever her dad comes home and has sweet smiles for everyone that we see. Sometimes she likes to play shy, but can't resist peeking out at the world and smiling around her pacifier (Slater gave his up at 8 months...don't think that she is going to). She loves to eat and never tires of watching her big brother, who casually refers to her as "sister". Most nights she sleeps like an angel and wakes up with a huge grin, don't know how we got so lucky. Love you baby girl. Here she is in her Ewok headgear (we are Star Wars geeks around here lately).

Getting in shape for a visit with Aunt Judy

Background: There are few people in the world that can shop like Aunt Judy, so we decided that Jade was in need of some practice before we went for a visit.

Progress Report: Cheerful in cart, rapidly declines when the cart stops moving, enjoys any new item that can go in her mouth.

Conclusion: We may have a shopper on our hands.

Lovin' every part!

I just love every little part of these two, even the backs of their little heads together makes me smile! Slater loves to have Jade in the bathtub with him and she couldn't be happier to join him. They were both so intent on doing their own thing here.

A little adventure

So with warm temps and happy kids, it was time to strap Jade in the backpack and chase Slater down the trail. Jade did very well in the backpack, Slater was less than enthused about returning to the house, but very excited about sledding. It was a good outing for all.
